In a towering Acacia tree, owls and squirrels are locked in a territorial battle for the hollows — the most prized real estate in the forest. Each turn you place a creature, claim space, and threaten your opponent's position. But in Acacia, the board doesn't just fill up — it fights back. Eject your rival's pieces with a well-placed talon or acorn, and the whole dynamic shifts in an instant.

At its core, Acacia is a placement and ejection game on an 6x6 grid. Players win by achieving four-in-a-row. The ejection mechanic is where the game earns its teeth: you can push unprotected pieces off the board, but replacing lost pieces carries a real economic cost, meaning every ejection is a calculated gamble rather than a reflex. That single design decision — making replacement painful — transforms what could be a chaotic back-and-forth into a tense, strategic arms race.

What makes Acacia stand out to a publisher is the combination of a short rules explanation and genuine strategic depth. It sits in the same family as Connect Four, but adds a layer of tactical aggression that the original does not offer. At a BGG weight of around 2.5, it's accessible enough for families but substantial enough to satisfy the abstract strategy crowd.

Acacia is designed for players who love the clarity of Connect Four but want a game that rewards deeper thinking — fans of Chess, Go, Hex, and TwixT who are looking for something new they can teach in five minutes and analyse for years.
